Lauren Hale, RN, BSN
Born and raised in Ohio, Lauren's roots trace back to the quaint town of Lexington before her journey led her to Columbus. Fate intervened during a mission trip to New Orleans, where she met her future husband. While she now calls West Des Moines, Iowa, her home (and remains a devoted OSU Buckeye fan), her heart is fulfilled by her three children and cherished moments spent outdoors, at church, on the tennis court, and with her loved ones.
Lauren's dedication to healthcare manifested in her attainment of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ashland University's Dwight Schar College of Nursing in 2013. Her commitment was further solidified through certifications in BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support). For 8 years, she thrived as an emergency department nurse at Grant Medical Center, a level I trauma center. The trajectory of her expertise broadened as she embraced roles as a versatile float nurse, traveling to various hospitals and departments within Ohio Health. These experiences within different healthcare specialties broadened her holistic understanding of the field. Relocating to West Des Moines, she transitioned into a role as a clinical liaison, facilitating patient transfers to the next level of care. Here, she developed insights into the business aspects of healthcare, as well as insurance dynamics.
In October 2022, Lauren found herself grappling with a mysterious illness that disrupted her life. Months of bedridden uncertainty followed, marked by numerous medical consultations and hospital visits, each yielding no definitive diagnosis. The caregiver had become the patient, and this transformative journey highlighted glaring gaps in the healthcare system: lapses in communication, lack of guidance, and misdirection. Guided by her nursing acumen, Lauren advocated for herself, sparing her needless tests and eventually leading her to The Mayo Clinic for invaluable guidance. Though this period stands as one of the most strenuous times in her life, it offered her a unique perspective on healthcare. With deep gratitude for the chance to see healthcare from a different angle, Lauren now channels her experience into LahSET, dedicated to assisting others navigating their own healthcare journeys.
